Free Migration Project collaborates with the Popular Alliance for Undocumented Workers’ Rights (PAUWR) and other partners to promote and protect the fundamental human right to work regardless of immigration status. Working with PAUWR, Free Migration Project, the Sheller Center for Social Justice, Restaurant Opportunities Center United, and other partners, Philadelphia Councilwoman Helen Gym sponsored a resolution recognizing the right of every worker in the city to earn a living regardless of immigration status. On April 27, 2017, the Philadelphia City Council passed the resolution. Free Migration Project supports PAUWR’s ongoing dinner series to educate the public about the challenges undocumented restaurant workers face and to push for an end to laws that infringe upon the basic right to earn a living.
